Exconvento de San Francisco sits on the slope of hill overlooking the city (Cerro de San Miguel). The church of Gothic-Spanish style construction began in 1873 and concluded February 29, 1808. The façade shows neoclassical style columns with an arch housing the entrance to the church. The roof is characterized by its Latin cross shape and its nave consists of seven sections representing the benefactor number in the Catholic religion. The church houses the Blessed Virgin of the Assumption, patron saint of Tetela de Ocampo
