Puebla is the home of all things Talavera. To finish our visit here are 9 examples of the tile use on buildings. True, certified Talavera is produced in the city of Puebla, however, modern Talavera is also available from factories in other Mexican districts. Pretty, yet quickly produced, it has little to do with the highly detailed, rigorously defined process that is required from authenticity in the Puebla area of Mexico. Puebla tile requires the use of specific volcanic soils found only in that geographical region. Other key differences include using commercial colours rather than the natural pigments used in authentic Talavera, and tile designs are more commonly stamped on lesser quality tile, rather than meticulously hand painted.
