Taken in 1987. Popocatépetl is a volcano outside Mexico City. At the time, it was a popular playground for Mexicans wanting to go on family outings, or to do some ice climbing (the top was covered with a glacier). More recently, though, it has begun erupting, putting an end to recreational use.
