The bust of Plácido Domingo outside the Teatro Principal in Puebla de Zaragoza's historic centre. The sculpture was unveiled in 2017. Domingo's bust honours the career of the renowned Spanish tenor and his connection to the city. Plácido Domingo, born in Madrid in 1941, immigrated to Mexico with his family at the age of eight and lived there throughout his youth. His father, Plácido Domingo Ferrer, also a singer, and his mother, Pepita Embill, chose Mexico as their residence. Domingo considered Mexico his "second home" and developed a deep admiration for the country. The bust in Puebla, as well as other expressions of his affection for Mexico, reflect the importance of his personal connection to the country and Mexican culture. Despite his international career, Plácido Domingo has always maintained a close relationship with Mexico, where he spent part of his childhood and where his family found a home.
