After the Great Pyramid of Cholula, we visited the lovely church of Santa Maria Tonantzintla which was carved by native craftsmen. The church has a very distinctive and ornate interior inspired by the blend of native and Spanish cultures of Mexico. Unfortunately I did not take any photos of the interior of this lovely church. After visiting the Santa María Tonantzintla Church, we visited the beautiful Spanish colonial city of Puebla before heading back to Mexico City. This concluded the day trip I did as part of my work trip to Mexico in 2001. I revisited the beautiful city of Puebla in 2011 but not the church of Santa Maria Tonantzintla in Cholula.
